The Stoner Girl’s Guide to The Nectars [Interview]

The Nectars are a fresh and trashy grrrl-fronted indie-punk band from New Jershey and they have just released their new single ‘I Want It’. It is sweet and salty indie-punk-pop and I think you will dig it and their latest video for their debut single, Heaven (below).

Had the honour of chatting with The Nectars’ leading-lady, Jessica Kenny.

So keep reading!

What advice would you give to your 19-year-old self?

I would tell my 19 year old self that boys are yucky, they’ll be yucky 5 years from now. And actually they’ll always be yucky. But eventually one will come around who’s a little less yucky.

What do you think would happen if a 90-year-old woman accidentally fed a pan of hash brownies to a pack of squirrels?

I think those squirrels would have a lit ass time. The real question is why does a 90-year-old woman happen to ‘accidentally’ have a pan of hash brownies…. and can we have some!?

How do you feel about cats? And how many cats do you think are too many cats for one woman to own?

I thought you’d never ask. I have 3 cats and we all sleep in a love pile. There is always room for more. No judgments here. I’m a cat lady and I’m OK with it. Boys are yucky, cats are not.

How much coffee is too much coffee?

Depends who you’re asking. Our guitarist, Baron, could consume an endless amount of coffee on the daily. I, myself, stick to one cup or I start acting more weird than usual.

Anything you love watching on Netflix?

Stranger Things

🖖🏼

What helps you get in a creative mood?

WINE! I’ll take a glass of Sauvignon Blanc please. Also I enjoy doing some free flow dance to get those creative juices flowing. Nothing better than getting real fluid and gooey before writing a track.

What do you think is the most valuable way to spend your time?

This depends on what type of mood I’m in. Most importantly, I try to nurture my craft no matter what I’m doing. Whether it’s music, yoga, making merch, and even interacting in relationships… I’m always pushing for creativity and staying true to my artistry.

What’s next for you?

We have so much to share with you guys. From songs, to music videos, to new merch. I’m excited to keep releasing new content and adding more friends/fans to our Nectar fam. That’s what this is all about for us! Also looking forward to playing more shows and to continue GROWING together as a band and as individuals. It’s a beautiful thing and we’re stoked to share it all!

Thank you so much for your time Jessica! Stay dope. 🙂

I have read many articles about medical marijuana and how it can help you in terms of chronic pain, bone injuries, eating disorder/anorexia, anxiety disorders and panic attacks, inflammation, even cancer and a lot more. Like this article about a marijuana strain from http://www.ilovegrowingmarijuana.com/rene-mist/ . Cbd and thc are also new to me and I don’t even smoke. If this is true I cant find any solid conclusive evidence that speaks to its efficacy.
